 I am Christian Perdomo and I'm majoring in Digital Photography at The Art Institute of Las Vegas.
The other day I heard the following question: " Why are you a photographer? " Replied with a phrase that seemed so smug myself a bit absurd : " Why is the most important profession in the world." I stopped to think for a moment what was said and concluded that it was not so wrong and that in fact it was not the most important, certainly would be in the " top 10 " of activities fundamental to the existence of mankind .
Photography is a means of expression that can be used in various ways, journalism communicates the news, the gossip magazines showing the lives of celebrities in ads does all the work of enchantment for sale and see it in reports, websites , lectures , books and many other resources for various purposes.
Television and movies only exist thanks to the technical advancements that led to photography, web 2.0 is just as interesting as we have videos and photos beautiful and colorful, it was just text I wanted to see so many people connected this time. Going further, we just have no idea how we were as children that we saw photos, and also only know how our parents were younger for the same reason. Our story was told through photos. Imagine is now a life without photograph, without child records or photos that exposed the horror of war or famine in Africa. The ads would be like the old posters made by Lautrec . Television and internet? Forget it, they would not have been born. Can raise the flag and say that there would be illustration, typography and everything else, in fact . But the spread of photography, when compared to other forms of image building is the fact that it is realistic in nature, things need to be in front of the camera to be portrayed, we interpret a photograph as something real, if the product is beautiful in the picture thus seems to be the fact, if a company seems well organized and productive in the picture, so is the impression we have of her.
At the end of the day, Photography is like the air in our lungs, and this is so important, that we will only notice its absolute importance when we are without it , just surrounded by these photographs generic image banks free will as we are surrounded by polluted air and toxic, get sick, tired and depressed. Then maybe they do understand the lack of good photographs, taken responsibly for talent, people who study and research as well as in medicine, engineering, architecture and other professions that few can rival in importance with photography.
